I wrote a book for product people—Nearly Perfect
Friends,
You may have noticed a bit of a lull in posts here—and for good reason: I wrote a book.
I took the core concepts we’ve been exploring in this newsletter and turned them into something bigger: Nearly Perfect—a book about what makes the best products in the world succeed, and how you can apply those same principles.
It’s for founders, designers, product managers, and investors who care about solving the right problem well.
You’ll learn how to:
Define problems so clearly the solution becomes obvious
Bundle existing solutions in unexpected ways
Avoid short-term thinking in building products
Have some fun with examples and illustrations
Create solutions that are nearly perfect
The book distills the ideas from this newsletter (being best in class, bundling, and more) into a short, focused hardcover. You can read it in an hour. It explores why a handful of products—like the iPhone, Google Search, Netflix, and Tesla—become indispensable, while others fade away. Plus, how to approach your own product, and make something people love.
It also includes hand-drawn illustrations (by yours truly) that makes it feel friendly and fun.
Nearly Perfect launches June 16. Since you’re on this list, you’re already part of the inner circle. If you think this book would be interesting to someone you know, feel free to share this with them. I’ll be sending more updates on my Twitter/X account as well.
More soon.
